Ecbert Leather Gauntlets – Authentic Protection for Warriors
King Ecbert is the ruler of Wessex who is portrayed as a sophisticated and intelligent monarch. In real history, King Ecgberht (770/775–839) was the King of Wessex from 802 until his death. Ecgberht was the son of King Ealhmund of Kent. He was forced into exile in Francia by the kings Offa of Mercia and Beorhtric of Wessex in the 780s. He returned to Wessex and took the throne in 802 after Beorhtric's death. He defeated Beornwulf of Mercia at the Battle of Ellandun in 825. He took control of Mercian dependencies in southeastern England. He installed his son Aethelwulf as sub-king. He was the first king of Wessex to completely subdue Mercia. He was so powerful that the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles refer to him as Ruler of Britain.

In 1300s, Chainmail gauntlets were worn by medieval soldiers and knights and armored gauntlets appeared in Europe in 1400s. Leather gauntlets also appeared in the American West as military uniform accessories.
